Jesus Didn't Believe In The Written Word Of God, So Why Should You?

If in the 21st centuary you had to be classed as either one or the other, but not both, which one best describes you? A similar quote was given on the UK BBC1 programme The Big Questions open forum debate last Sunday, which made my mind think.

Yep, that's the one. The woman who said that believing in god was a social construct which showed the genius of the human mind to become kinder people rang a bell with me. The man who said that he believed the koran to be the direct word of god made me shudder. I'd even go so far as to say that paedophiles, rapists and murderers make me less tense than forefront spokes people who (almost) secretly believe in the written word of god! I don't think that this extreme form of religion has a place in the 21st centuary. The programme also started with a contentious newspaper article, which I haven't read, concerning Pakistani men taking advantage of UK very young white girls, who they see as "easy meat" with just the intention of sex and have no real respect for since they dress and act immodestly. It's a whole can of worms. Funnily enough I'm in favour of legislation forcing the female sex to dress and act with modesty in the whole of the white western world.

Is there anyone else in Sciforums who would admit to feeling queezy when someone religious announces on tv that they believe the bible or the koran to be the undisputed written word of an omnipresent God?

I'm neither Xian or a believer in God but as a former Xian and having studied the bible intensively I dispute what you say about Jesus not believing the written word of God. In fact the opposite is true. What Jesus did was to clarify the word of God with a fresh interpretation.

What makes fanatics dangerous is that their minds are closed to any new idea, reason or logic.

jersey shore makes me queezy, and all i have to do is change the channel. paris hilton is on tv for crying out loud. who cares?

I don't see how the title and the content come together? Jesus referred to 'old scripture' as part of his teachings.

Peace be unto you :)

It would get my attention. I would be surprised if they really did believe the Bible was the undisputed written word of God. But then again Some people can say that with all honesty and still have a completely wrong view of the message of the Bible.

So i would be surprised if the Media machine would allow Someone who actually understood the bible the freedom to express it on TV

But i would not be surprised if the Media machine allowed someone who had a false view of the Bible the freedom to express it in TV.

The authorities of this world are tools of satan. So they will support and allow anyone who is twisting the message to Speak.

And, of course, you actually understand the Bible. :bugeye:

By the way, have you noticed how many religious TV stations there are? Do you mean ALL of them are wrong?

Well i have not seen any i would totally endorse as 100% true to Scriptures. And i would be astounded if any existed that did. The powers that be cannot stand true Christianity being shown. But screaming madmen like Fred Phelps and His twisted little westboro baptist church with only a hundred or two followers gets global coverage whenever he clicks his fingers. That’s the kind of "christianity" the powers that be want projected to the world. Why? Because that’s a view that will cause Christians and Christianity to be hated. And that is their long term goal. You got to dehumanise the enemy and demonise them before you can get the masses to persecute them.

The elites have always worked like that.

I'm sure Fred Phelps (whack-o that he is) believes that he actually understands the Bible.

It wouldn't bother me in the least if everyone ignored him and his inbred church.
