I hope you don't get permabanned . It could indicate my own personal freedom in S.F. is in jeopardy. God I would hate that . I love this place . It is not often you can find people that can relate to your most deepest thoughts and still not crucify you or use you as a scapegoat . I feel a large attraction to thinking people and I consider this my home of thinkers ( Not stinkers) I have come to rely on S.F. members abilities to give it to Me straight and look for flaws in discussion . It is extremely valuable . Like today At 3 o'clock I am meeting with heavily influencual green industry well connected company to buy into "Wood For Haiti" . I count on the fact that S,F, members have been diligent in helping to raise my awareness . Maybe even raising my intelligence level as to better interact with industry giants . You get the picture . I don't know , we just pulled out of our very beings . We attracted a Muslim crowd over from the Carousel . They were hanging around out side the main tent when we came out after the end of the show . Strange days indeed . Later in one Music threads . Me and the Band we got a paying gig Yes !!!

It seems that two red-card infractions were issued on the same day, which ought to be impossible because each red card comes with a ban of at least 1 day.
Therefore, I have reversed one of these infractions (that would have expired on 1 September).
This leaves Gustav with 4 active infraction points. This still means that if Gustav earns another infraction before 19 July, he may be permanently banned.
I suggest that a prudent course of action for Gustav would be to make sure he does not earn any further bans prior to the expiry of at least one of his infraction points. Given that many members seem to sail along quite happily, never earning an infraction point or even a warning, this should not be terribly difficult.
I suggest that Gustav ought to get himself a new hobby on sciforums. Rather than posting exclusively about how biased the moderators are and how unfair it is that he is penalised for his personal insults, inappropriate language, trolling, flaming and so on, he could start trying to contribute some useful content to sciforums.
As to the opening post, there was little to no interest from members in changing the infraction/warning system when the matter was raised publically for discussion. Hence, the suggested change has not gone ahead. There will be no review of Gustav's infraction points other than the one I have just conducted.
But you're free to continue to rant and rave if you want to risk it, Gustav. I'll leave the thread open.

I just checked the records and I'll leave any final decision to the administration. One thing to note in this case, though, is that a suspension was issued for both offenses. You were originally suspended for one day in response to snotty racism, and the ban was extended to three days for what has been classified as hate speech, but also could have been construed as insulting another member or, all things considered, outstanding stupidity above and beyond the call of duty.
So, should James decide to honor your request, which example of your contribution to this community would you like reduced to a yellow card? The snotty, childish racism? Or the blatantly childish stupidity?
I tend toward the latter, as a matter of form, since you were suspended originally for being a snotty racist. That ought to stand, and increasing the suspension to three days probably doesn't require a second red card.
But, at any rate, I thought I'd check in with you on which instance of you embarrassing yourself and this community you think we ought to go easy on you for.

You don't do the things that get Gustav in trouble. If you don't understand that then we truly are not doing a very good job of explaining ourselves. Gustav simply lapses into immature behavior, which in itself is hardly a bannable offense. But when he gets immature he gets nasty and stooopid. He tosses around mean-spirited insults and makes baseless accusations. That kind of posting is a textbook case of trolling: it derails the discussion and distracts the rest of the members from the topic.
If you don't think I understand the origin of Received Pronunciation, then please explain to me what I missed; don't just wrap yourself in a Union Jack, stick your nose in the air, and insist that we Colonials have no right to comment on British culture. My wife with her master's degree in literature and her expertise on a number of British authors, from Shakespeare to Maugham, would tear this kid to pieces for making an idiotic remark like that.
And if you think my analysis of a phenomenon is wrong, then offer an alternative explanation. Don't just sputter a sequence of profanity that looks like it came from the mouth of an eight year-old. We all use course language, but to write a passage that is all profanity and no substance is no way to convince anyone that you're a scholar.
You don't do things like that. So don't worry about being lumped in with Gustav. You do have some things in common, for example writing styles that I personally find nearly incomprehensible. But that's my problem, not yours. Everyone else seems to be able to read your stuff and that's good enough for me.
You're okay, dude! We certainly appreciate getting a compliment once in a while so I thank you for the sentiment. But--although I can only speak for myself and not the other Moderators--you're not on my watch list, so don't sweat it!
My band has been pigeonholed as "Celtic." Since that's a hot genre these days we're happy to be called that.
We attract a lot of Latinos with our Celtic sound. I won't even try to understand or explain that.
I understudied for the bass guitarist in one of the hottest dance bands in the D.C. region last weekend and took home eighty bucks. I think that doubled my lifetime income from music. After playing almost exclusively in original-music bands for my whole life, it was a touching experience to watch people dance to my music.
I don't want to permaban anybody. Well okay I suppose there are exceptions to any categorical statement but Gustav is not one of them. I just want him to become more civilized. I really, really, really do not like flaming other members. Flame wars destroy discussions, and they attract exactly the wrong crowd to this website.
So knock it off, Gustav! If you do it again, I'll do it again! Our standards for behavior here are not very strict. You should be able to comply with them without cramping your style.
I think I just explained that. I have zero tolerance for flame wars and for people who try to start them. I have very little tolerance for trolling of any kind. This is a place of science and scholarship, and anyone who tries to take it somewhere else is going to be smacked down by me. You can be twelve different kinds of silly, because humor and entertainment are always welcome, at least within reason. But DO NOT DERAIL DISCUSSIONS BY FLAMING. That thwarts our mission.

What the fuck people? Have you really never taken a look at the SciForums Becomes Eclectic thread? He's got more positive, useful contributions right there than almost anyone on the entire forum. I guess his time would have been better spent insulting and baiting Tach over in the Physics & Math forum, or something? That's what passes as "useful" around here?
