It's not really cruel of the cat, it's just defending its snacks. It might even feel under attack..
It IS cruel of the owner since she deliberately places the animals in this position.
 
I thought it was funny when the dog started nervously biting the couch at about 00:36.

Naw but seriously, it may have been funny if it only went for a short time, but allowing it to go on for as long as it did wasn't necessary.
 
If it happened naturally it would have been funny. I mean, the dog could have just stopped trying to steal the snacks..
But the woman set it up.
