Is religion good or bad?

Given all the deaths and segragation that religion has caused in the past( all the Holy wars) and the present(9/11/01, and the bashes againt science), is religion a good or a bad thing?

It is a method of mind control for guilt-ridden fear-mongers who imagine they need an outside party to clean the slate of their sins.

Religion is a vehicle for those seeking a a sense of the divine. I don't believe any religion is bad in and of itself, it is the individuals within who either act negatively, without compassion or tolerance that mar religion.

Religion does not cause death and or segregation, people do.
What did "religion" have to do with 9/11?
