Is it wrong to engage intercourse knowing you carry an STD?

Suppose you are aware you carry an STD of some form. Is it wrong to engage in sex, even if protected(implying a condom) and withhold such information from your partner?

The partner in question is a variable. It could be a marriage, a one night stand, or anything inbetween.

not if ur partner has STD too...otherwise it is wrong and should be considered as intent to kill.

of course it is immoral. you are knowingly putting someone else at risk for your own gain. unless you inform them, and get their consent, it is immoral.

Is it wrong to pull a trigger, knowing it will propel a bullet towards a person?

Nope, not if that other person is trying to kill your daughter.

Nope, not if that other person is trying to rape your wife.

Nope, not if that other person is machine-gunning hundreds of innocent people in, say, a shopping mall.

And there are other such situations that bring reality quickly into focus.

Yes, it's wrong. It's also immoral. It's also selfish. It's also not very nice.

But then, all of those things are what humans do on a regular basis all over the world, huh?

So really, the question is something like, "Is it immoral/wrong to do immoral/wrong things?" If reality is any indication, then the answer is apparently, "No, not if one gets something out of it."

It is absolutely wrong, it is immoral and it is one of those cynical crimes that could actually affect dozens, if not hundreds of people, by the unkowing spread of the STD, which might even lead to death.

Perhaps but unsafe sex can also lead to life.

It's best to mention such little troubles like STD, gender, species if their is any reason to mention them. And let your partner decide.

Jesus. I don't understand how this could be a serious question. Is it wrong? Well, would you want someone with an STD having sex with you without telling you? There's the answer right there.

Well, not so easy ...I know a few people that, if they contracted some STDs, I'd be perfectly happy! I might even pay the whores for giving it to them. So you see, in that case, it wasn't "wrong" for them to give the guy STDs, was it? :D

Seeing an issue from differing perspectives often yeilds different results than one might first believe. I.e., do you think al Queda members thinks it's "wrong" for Americans to give STDs to other Americans??? See? Different perspective, huh?

I'm going to say, yes, it's morally, fundamentally wrong to be an STD-carrier and not tell whoever you're sleeping with that you have an STD. That person has a right to know their life is in danger- let that person decide whether they want to take the risk or not.

Francois, perhaps I wasn't clear in specifying the nature of my question, for that I apologize. I am not asking this because I wish to know if it is immoral or not, I believe it to be immoral. I was curious for opinions, because I know someone who has had intercourse with others after finding out they carry HPV, and thus wanted to find out if anyone here shared their opinion.

This was really to compare how many thought it one way, and how many thought it another.
