Is ethics a matter of capability?

Assume a doctor is incapable of saving a patient's life so the patient is left with two options, to suffer agony through what few years he has left, or to to take a quick release by death. The chance that a cure can be found in soon is ambiguous; so should the patient's request for death be granted? Or is the onis on medical science and the doctor's capability?

If they want to die, you can't stop them. Sooner or later, they will get their wish.

Why should it be the doctor? Why can't someone else help the guy to end his life? A large bottle of valium would do it, and most likely with no questions asked.

No, I think you've stated the question wrong ....doctors shouldn't be the only ones involved in that decision.
