ii cant remember where fluoride comes from, some rock.

http://www.cdc.gov/Fluoridation/fact_sheets/engineering/wfadditives.htm

thinking,

fluoride i think you would find it in trace amounts and it depends on where the water is tested.

sodium fluoride or silicofluorides, are industrial products never found in natural water or in organisms. They are, furthermore, notoriously toxic, sufficiently so to be used as rat poison or insecticide.

Either way, there are people who are dumping stuff sufficient to kill rats and insects in people's water supply.

and i dont know what test you are referring to because rats drink water all the time. insects too.

its about the bodies , our bodies reaction to this form of Fluoride

notice that cancers are increasing

but besides that what glass of water would you give to your child

one with calcium fluoride or one sodium fluoride ?

water has been treated for over 100 years, you wouldn't want to drink it if it wasn't.

I'd prefer natural mountain spring water over ANY bottled or tap water any day.

John99 is clearly disagreeing to disagree. No sane person consciously consumes poison and encourages it.

your perception may be that cancer is increasing because of the steady increase of people plus it is now diagnosed whereas in the past it was not. especially for various forms, but i am not a doctor. however, it is true, for the most part, that people live longer these days.

I think what sushil was trying to say is you can be walking off a cliff and still have a positive attitude about it.

stateofmind,

Thanks for your post. Science, technology and industrialization have destroyed all ecosystems but people are still hoping that technology will bring a solution.

For several decades environmentalists have been warning modern society that ecosystems are getting destroyed - that consumerist lifestyle is not sustainable.

But modern society which was busy chasing progress, growth and development did not listen. It refused to believe there was any environmental crisis or problem. It said science and technology will always find a solution - if earth gets destroyed we will move on to another planet.

In the name of Science and Technology impossible dreams were sold to people in the last few decades.

Moving to another planet would probably rank as the most impossible of all impossible things.

One space shuttle exploded during take off - another exploded on the return journey.

So far man has not been able to go beyond the moon. There is no other life sustaining ecosystem/ planet within our solar system. Outside the solar system planets and galaxies are millions of light years away - billions of light years away.

So when are we moving to a new home ?

Next year - or 5 years later ?

It is the impact of sociopathy and not technology that is the root cause. You still can adhere to Confucianism and use technology to better mankind. Throwing baby with the bath water will have no future for humankind....

I'm sorry to burst your bubble of negativity, but man and his work are part of nature.

I agree--it doesn't matter what people do, because in the long run, Nature always wins. Shape altered, maybe; plant and animal species extinct because of us, definitely; but Earth and its creatures existed for billions of years before we appeared, and they will exist for at least another 3-400 million years before the increasing heat-output of the sun makes the environment too hot for life on Earth. Where will Humanity and any of its works be in that distant age? The last inhabitants of Earth won't even know that we existed--all trace of our presence will have been wiped away long, long before by the recycling of the Earth's surface rocks due to the geological processes. Why, in the next few centuries, if the boffins are right about global warming, we face the prospect that the Futurama world of 1000 years hence will have only legends of the lost lands, out there in the shallow seas, to where the old coast used to extend 40-50 generations ago. All bodies die, all states decline, all empires fall--Nature wins every argument, because its got literally all the time in the world.

That's an artificial distinction.

*rimshot*

So what ?

Do you want to maintain that nuclear power plants are natural ?

yes, perfectly.

do they violate physics?

So what is you definition of 'natural' ?

[No answer yet...]

So, what's the point of the word 'unnatural' ?
Everything is apparently perfectly natural..

If you get raped, beaten the shit out of, and get your arms and legs cut off you will survive as well.
'Nature will survive' is an arrogant answer.

It may seem so, Enmos, but what we see presently as 'pristine Nature' has suffered far greater insults in the deep past than what is happening now at the hands of Humanity. In both the Cretaceous/Tertiary Event of 65 million years ago, and the Permian/Triassic Event of 251 million years ago, Earth's biosphere was almost destroyed by meteoric bombardment. Vast numbers of species were obliterated each time. Yet Nature survived, (admittedly only just, in the case of the P/T Event) and went on to rebuild itself. A new cohort of species emerged, or rather took over from those that had reigned before, and Nature rebuilt the biosphere. Then Humanity emerged, and created the latest of a long series of deadly threats to the biosphere.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that I'm being blasé about what's going on presently--I absolutely hate the impact that Humanity is having upon Earth and its species, and I wish we could just get the hell off the planet and leave it to begin healing itself. I am saying that Nature will return, if it's ever given a chance, and that Humanity and its brutal impact are (for all their present pervasive and savage influence) only a temporary phenomenon in the life of the planet.

maybe

what though if society collapses

Industrial Society has been spreading blatant lies over the years.

"Green Industry", "Green Technology", "Ethical Consumerism", "Sustainable Development".

These are contradictory terms – these are oxymorons.
Industrialization can never be green – it is impossible.

You cannot save a person after you have killed him.
You cannot save ecosystems after you have killed them for making consumer goods.

When we make consumer goods we kill Animals, Trees, Air, Water and Land - directly or indirectly.

Industrial Society destroys ecosystems - all Industrial Societies destroy ecosystems.

It hardly matters whether it is "Capitalist Industrial Society" - "Communist Industrial Society" - or "Socialist Industrial Society".

Industrial Society destroys ecosystems at every stage of its functioning - when consumer goods are produced - when consumer goods are used - when consumer goods are discarded/ recycled.

Raw material for industry is obtained by cutting up Forests. It is extracted by mining/ digging up the earth. It comes by destroying/ killing Trees, Animals and Land.

Industries/ Factories use Water. The water that comes out of Factories is contaminated with hundreds of toxic chemicals. What to speak of Rivers - entire Oceans have been polluted. Industry kills Water.

Industries/ Factories burn millions of tonnes of fuel - and when raw material is melted/ heated up, hundreds of toxic chemicals are released into the atmosphere. Industry kills Air.

Industrial Society has covered millions of square miles of land with cement and concrete. Industry kills Land.

When consumer goods are discarded/ thrown away in landfills it again leads to destruction of ecosystems.

When consumer goods are recycled, hundreds of toxic chemicals are released into air, water and land.

Consumer goods are sold/ marketed through a network of millions of kilometers of rail / road network and shipping routes which causes destruction of all ecosystems that come in the way.

We have limited resources/ ecosystems on earth which is just 40,000 km in circumference.

If we destroy ecosystems for fewer things the ecosystems will last longer.

If we destroy ecosystems for more things [consumer goods] the ecosystems will finish much sooner.

The fewer things we make the more sustainable we are.

This is common sense - plain common sense - which the so called smart, intelligent, advanced, civilized and developed Industrial Society does not possess.

We are alive because of ecosystems - we owe our very existence to ecosystems.

Industrial Society has destroyed most ecosystems within a span of 250 years after Industrial Revolution.

Ecosystems are not consumer goods that can be manufactured, repaired or restored by MultiNational Companies in industries and factories.

The collapse has already happened for millions of other species. Most of them have been decimated.

Very soon it will be the turn of man to go.
