I hate guns.

They were used in and against cities all the time, and they were built when and where needed.

Ok so there wouldn't be city camera's or people calling the police if they sighted one of these? Anyways, its better than a fucking bomb or a gun.

Then I might be able to agree with your premise, though we would both have to agree that is not possible to implement. And we would have to discuss what means governments would have to defend their populations from agression beyond the old British musket line exchange.

How could you assume I am naive?

Because the last person to suggest something like this was definitely naive. I am extrapolating on similarities.
One, you assumption that people would ever give up guns, and two, that it would make the world better. Guns are a means of control, People are never, ever willing to give that up.

Now, If you had prefaced it with: "Here's an incredibly naive idea:" I wouldn't be inclined to call you naive.

However, you actually, in your two sentences managed to convey that you found this idea acceptable.

Guns are intrinsically neutral...like money.

They can be used for either good or evil.

Really? so what are the authorities going to do if all guns are gone?
The UK is successfully policed without the use of guns. Guns are only issued when it is known that the suspected criminals are armed. (And around Heathrow, to make foreign nationals feel more secure.)

It is rather strange but up until the white man came to North America the indigenous peoples lived without guns for over 20,000 years, then they were exposed to guns and they needed them for their own defense but they were called "savages"!

A little simplistic. No, very simplistic.

I think all people who are naive should go and have their heads checked.
Doesn't everyone agree ?

I AGREE. I'm screaming, can you hear me scream?

I know this forum is supposed to be about your Free Thoughts but does Free Thoughts mean Hey-I-got-this-stupid-thought-when-I-woke-up-this-morning-and-will-start-a- new thread board?

I would give so much to be naive...once again. A little child looking up into the sky, seeing the world how it was really meant to be seen.

In some ways i belive that we do return to this similar state but then the genie has been let out of the bottle. The mind telling you to forget what you think you now to be true....perhaps.

And this affects me how?

A lot of people think you are too consistently stupid to be real, LaLa.

Dunno, if I was told that, I might work on my presentation a little. You know, like writing simple sentences people can understand, not running them into each other, running posts through a spell checker, and oh, not using possessive apostrophes to denote plurals?

Who honestly needs a gun?
lali, what do I do if I'm asleep in my house and I wake up to a window breaking and footsteps creaking the floor in my house, in the middle of the night?
Sorry, but I'm not giving up my shotgun.

BULLSHIT ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The USA has four times the homicide rate of the UK.
So, restricting guns clearly lowers the homicide rate.
And five times the population, so if you want to get technical, the UK still has a slighlty higher homicide rate/population proportion than the U.S. Thanks for playin'.

Yup. Abolishing our second amendment right will decrease the crime rate. Look at Brazil for example. Citizens can't own guns in Brazil and their crime rate is soooo low. (note my sarcasm)

One major problem when you abolish the right to own guns: Criminals who are naturally inclined to break the law WILL find a way to illegally purchase a gun. Good, law-abiding citizens will most likely respect the law and not buy guns. So now you've got guns in the hands of people who are natural criminals and law breakers. On the other hand, good honest citizens have no way to protect themselves against these gun-bearing criminals.

Drug dealers in Brazil are extremely powerful for many reasons - one being that they have access to guns (bigger and better ones than cops), whereas most of Brazil doesn't. Strict regulation of citizens' rights often gives power to the wrong people. Remember prohibition and how powerful the mafia got by the underground sale of liquor?

Oh yeah, and we definitely need to lessen our constitutional rights even more because it hasn't happened enough in the past 8 years.
