I hate guns.

I don't know if you are bragging about the fact that the only thing that keeps you from killing people is legal consequences or if you are just trying to make the point that people are not the problem.

Actually, I was saying that it's not personal ownership of big guns or swords that keeps us from dissolving into an anarchic state of murder. The murder rates in the middle ages were like 100x higher than what they are now, for instance, when there was no strong, centralized, legitimate law.

And what I said was:
"...the huge institution set up to discourage most people from killing most people most of the time, and our acknowledgment that they are in charge."

Of course people kill other people. We're not that logical; we have difficulty weighting costs. Regardless, societies that are more cop oriented, have lower crime rates.

People ARE the problem.

Umm, duh.

a gun is a device, that all. just a mechanical device that provides a function. you have the trigger, you have the barre, you have the chamber where the gasses are released to propel said bullet to leave its chamber, trevla through the barrel and follow a straight path to the target. the problem comes in when the target is another human being, so what can you do? dont point them at another human.

same for cars, they were not made for running over people but they can be used for that purpose.

Like I said, I wasn't sure if I was reading your post correctly or not. From what I read it sounded like you were saying that people were not the problem and that didn't make sense to me because people obviously have the choice to obey the law or not. Weapons aside, people would still choose to kill by any means they could. Choice is obviously what makes people, not guns or knives or whatever, the problem.

Sorry if I misread your post, but I was just a little sensitive about the way you described slitting someone's throat in a bar when they weren't even looking. Like I said, I lost a wonderful friend to a something very similar not that long ago and it was awful and terrible and it broke my heart and the hearts of many of my friends. I don't know if you've ever lost anyone to murder, but when you look in the paper and some fucking news nazi is posting pictures of your friends blood being hosed off the streets, you feel sick to your stomach. It makes you want to kill the killer, despite everything that is right and makes sense. At that point, it's like fuck the law. People are driven by emotions and many times emotions are way more powerful then lawful right and wrong.

But cars were not meant to kill when they were invented, guns on the other hand , were.

right but if you lived in a place where wild animals were trying to kill you then you wouldnt mind having a gun.

i grew up with guns, when i was a child my mom told me she found a gun in my crib. i guess it fell out of my dads pocket.

Now that statement right there would make me want to never have a gun.

Your statement that cars were meant to kill was what I was refering to. I just think that assult rifles and other weapons should be registered and those with medical conditions and criminal backgrounds shouldn't have a gun.

You do realize how easy it is to make explosives from common household chemicals?

As far as guns go, I have an entire collection of them from assault rifles to pistols to shotguns. I find them to be most enjoyable to fire at the range and it is very comforting to know that my house is protected if someone breaks in, no matter what room I am in.

im comforted by the fact u can initiate a coup de'tat

No Roman it is just messy, it isn't that hard to kill someone with a rock.

So why aren't police forces issued rocks?
Why must you insist on your right to carry a fire arm for self-protection, when a rock will do just as well?
Why not bring a rock to a gunfight?

Oh dear, you've highlighted the hypocrisy gun owners use to self justify!

I predict Buffalo will go quiet now, just like he did when the statistics were put to him.

I think all guns should be destroyed along with other tactics that kill and represent power. Like bombs, poisons and propaganda.

Doesn't everyone agree?

Within the next few weeks, I am going to buy a handgun to protect myself from black people and the government.

No, ok... seriously, I want one because guns are cool and I can protect my shit.

All Nuclear Weaponry Should Be Demolished And Deactivated!

You're an idealist, but this just will not happen.

I think automobiles are perfect weapons. You have a 1 ton+ projectile. They are pretty potent and will never be outlawed.

Why can't we have both?
