Last night I had this dream where I was walking around this city and there was this strange red canid, like a hybrid of an Alsatian and an oversized fox, a male, he was said to be wild, but he insisted on walking everywhere with me, and even lay on the ground and let me stroke his fur...

Symbolism?

Lay off the sauce. :p

Sauce?

Are you talking about alcohol?

I don't drink, I did have a heavy meal before sleeping though.

Clearly an American phrase I've picked up somewhere, I didn't realise. Where's Fraggle when you need him?

Was your meal laced with anything illegal? :p

Nope. I don't take anything harder than refined sugar or caffeine. :D

Ah so it's the caffeine then! :p

I don't think dreams really signify much, I may be wrong but they're usually random instances crossed with things from your day as they're fresh in your memory(or subconscious).

I think some dreams are symbolic and some are just randomizations in your brain.

Most of mine are the latter, but some I am sure are symbolic.

Why would they be?
I think of it like those shows where they claim to speak to the dead, "I'm getting the name dave" *waits for audience acknowledgment*......
If you look hard enough for links then you tend to make them yourself when they might not really be there.

Sounds like you may want a pet.

Fox

The fox is a predator of great cunning and wiles. As such, to dream about the fox is to see oneself as either possessing or being victimized by such attributes. The focus on this symbol should be your sense of fear or kinship toward the fox. Whether you like or dislike the fox will determine the representation of the world and your relationships in it. If the fox is an adversary, the object that the fox is trying to take from you may be revealing.
A fox appearing in your dream should indicate that the qualities you most associate with a fox are somewhere at play in your life; either by you against someone else, or by someone else against you.

Is there someone else in the presence of the fox that shares its qualities? Is there another person in the dream who seems to be approaching you with caution?

Hmm... -It COULD also mean that you're about to meet someone who's very intelligent & equally as naive. So keep an eye out for anyone that crosses your path they could be a significant "player" in your Immediate future.

@ Cosmic: He wasn't an actual fox, he was like a mixture of a fox and an Alsatian dog. He was about the size of an Alsatian but more low slung, with a thin face and long thick fox-type tail.

I definitely liked him, so that's good.

@Anti: I just think some dreams are symbolic since they seem immediately symbolic of things that are going on in my life...

It sounds like this animal is a lot like how you would like to be: Strong, wild, loyal. It sounds like a lot of the best parts of you. :)
