Hypotensives more prone to internal bleeding?

Someone told me today that if your blood pressure is low, you are more likely to suffer internal bleeding if you've had any kind of physical trauma.

Why would that be? Surely hypotension = less hemorrhaging of any kind?

Maybe they meant that you are likely to get hypotension after internal bleeding? Or if they used the word hypotension (and not low blood pressure), maybe they just meant to say hypertension (very similar sounding).
