How do you "kill" a thread ?

Draqon kills threads with unparalleled ferocity. When he takes a perfectly potent discussion and transforms it into a transparent, unintelligent debacle with constant one-liners, he barely bats an eye. I'm telling you ... he has ice in his veins. In a distant second is Buffalo Foam.

Kadark the Cavalier

Okay...sadly...I'd never thought I would agree with you on anything, but Draqon is the fucking King of thread killers. His one-liners drive me insane! He takes a relevant and interesting topic and turns it into some poor-pity-me about his life...good Goddess...Draqon is the master...he already killed the 'how do you kill a thread' thread. Congrats Draq! Sheesh.

go were? my life is dull. I got no friends. No girlfriends. I am alone. single. I got no life. My classes drag on forever even this summer. My future is bleak. I should go hang myself, but think suicide is immoral. Like, this is the only thing there is in this life, the Sciforums.

I thought your future was Mars..

I am a student, my parents pay for my 20k education, I got no time for a job, my life is dull, the money I get is enough for food and classes and all. I use internet in public university computers.

I don't want to state the bloody obvious, but if you're a student and your parents are footing the bill, shouldn't you be spending the majority of your time studying, rather than whining?

To kill a thread, wait till Sam starts posting on it.

I believe there are several ways to "kill" a thread using various psych methods.

The extremely hard one, I think, would be the one shot kill. Meaning that by one post you kill a thread. Supposing that the thread is gaining a lot of posts.

The other methods would most likely deal with overpowering a polarized thread; where there is a certain side against the other. Which would take either a conscious group effort or one or two people working to persuade the others who are sided that may lack sufficient knowledge to overpower.

It is all about emotional states in this case. Make them feel defeated; they will be defeated. Once the chain reaction of loss takes its hold then it is hard to stop.

Then there is always the classic disrupting logic.

Bringing up a point so valid it can not be disputed.

Who knows there are probably tons of intricate ways to disrupt a thread, but the trick is executing it.
