How did I tune my mouth?

I can whistle in several ways but I'm quite adept at the Lauren Bacall method.

Thing that struck me the other day is that I can think of a note and then exactly reproduce it. I tested this with my keyboard and I can do that too.

I don't think I have perfect pitch cos I wouldn't know a middle C from a hole in the ground.

Is it the fact that I do go straight to the note or..

Do I start roughly near and then quickly tune or..

I'm just a tad bored and wanted to start a new thread?

Posters it's over to you

Sounds to me like your bored out of your mind, bbcboy.

Actually, you held your mouth just right. (Everyone knows when you hold your mouth just right, anything works

I can confirm :D

bbcboy,

I think that being able to whistle a specific note or sequence of such is a product of firstly learning how to control you mouth and throat to produce approximate controlled vibration.

Secondly you will probably find (unless you're extraordinarily 'pitch perfect' that in the very first deciseconds of the first few notes of a tune, you will fine-tune in to the precise frequencies of the notes you are trying to reproduce.

For the most part, once you get going, you will be able to accurately emulate your subject to a high degree.

well, you asked!
