I was wandering how big your knobs are. I've got a huge one and it squeks when I pull it. Should I have it replaced or should I just put oil on the hinges.
The council won't do anything as we bought the door ourselves

Help please

My knob is just about big enough for me to wrap my hand around it!

How worn out is your knob? :D

Have you thought about lubricating it, to make it work better? :D

You know, you could probably just replace it with a nicer knob at your local hardware store. They have them on display, row upon row. You can try them out for free, just give a twist, and see if they hold up. Or maybe you could just get a card register. It's only a slit, and all you have to do is push a card through to get it open automatically. :D

Maybe you should get that knob checked out...
Statistics show that 45% of America is suffering, due to malfunctioning knobs. :D

I as you know have dealt with many and varied problems in the knob department.

As has been mentioned already, when it squeaks the best thing to do is lubricate it. You can do this in many ways but I find dipping the whole thing in a bucket of warm grease should prove very satisfying.

As to size the question is raised what are you using your knob for?

If it's simply as a device for opening and making things wider then the usual three fingered action (Two behind and one in front) should suffice.

Sliding from side to side requires more of a firm grip and as for the up and down action, this can result in wear and tear not only on the knob itself but also, with repeated use, on the wrist.

Please supply further details of exactly how and when you use your knob and I may be able to furnish you with a more comprehensive answer.

I would suggest replacement with something along these lines.

It's like a mini top-security refrigerator door to keep your valuables safe. :bugeye:

One of my favorite quotes from "What planet are you from?"

"That's my penis. It hums."

"Well maybe it just doesn't know the words."

I heard somewhere a story about a guy who had a knob that whistled. Every time he turned his knob he could get it to whistle a different tune, and he also had this sleepwalking problem, so one night he took his knob and went outside and started whistling the star-spangled banner VERY loudly, and by the time he had reached the climax of the song he had aroused the sleeping neighbors.

:D

If I replace it, it mat not operate as desired. I use it to open doors. Do you think it may be tired and worn out through over use?
