Hope in ignorance.

It appears to me that the search for knowledge to know the universe or for that matter the answers to the questions: Is there a God/creator
is the universe a creation of a higher intelligence?
is there a purpose to our existence?
why are we here at this moment observing the universe and asking these eternal questions?
why the big bang?
what came before the big bang?
what is the fate of our universe?

why in this infinite space time contiuem we are born and observe the universe for a short time and then disappear?

We dont know so much that I take refuge that there's hope in our ignorance. After all if we knew everything and had eliminated any purpose to our existence then it would be a sad universe indeed.

It's sort of holding a lotto ticket for a drawing that hasnt happened. As long as the drawing is in the future somewhere there's hope of becoming rich.

Then again...

Why play the lotto if you don't want to win?

This search for knowledge will most probably still continue. There will always be people trying to answer all these questions. Like one-raven said- you just might win.
