Has anyone heard of Blackwater?

...this was all over the news...pal there are numerous of threads about these monsters as well.

They pay their mercenary soldiers SEVEN times as much as the American government pays an army recruit! This is simply a company making a profit off war!

A company that profits off recruiting secret soldiers and sending them to places in the world during war.

Blackwater was named after a region in the American south where the water also runs black.

A private defence company. This is weird, it says that there are 20,000 of these shadow troops in Iraq. Nobody knows about them.

Are you serious??? They've been all over the news for quite a while now! Seems everyone but you knows about them. Do you live in a cave somewhere on another planet???? And they aren't some kind of "shadow troops" - they're private security forces hired to protect contractors and government officials.

they in the news here aswell. aparently a swiss guy worked for blackwater in iraq for a while and now theres a investigation if he did foreign military service (which is illegal) such a case never happend until now but i personally think i wont be a big deal

Defense contractors or better known as mercenaries such as Blackwater take on guard and escort duties that the regular military force in Iraq doesn't have the manpower for.

Over the last several months Blackwater has been accused of numerous unprofessional activities such as shooting civilians, acting like a bunch of retarded cowboys, failing to adhere to basic military conduct, and being all around idiots.

Unfortunately it's better to have idiots guarding a convoy than no one at all. So we're stuck with them unless the US does something crazy like institute a draft.

Nothing wrong with mercenaries, they've been used throughtout history where a state alone doesnt have the resources to fund a war its gotten itself into. : Iraq

And throughout history they've been trouble, at best a desperation move that seldom works the way you want it to, and worst a deliberately adopted strategy by people arranging for what most would call an unfortunate outcome.

The US was not forced by unexpected developments to use mercenaries in Iraq. They were part of the setup and preparation from the beginning, along with contracting out (at greatly increased cost) such formerly military functions as fuel supply, vehicle maintenance, water, and food, for the army.

Yes, the costs were/are a very sore spot. But the rest of your comments are worthless. Contracting is THE only option when there is insufficient manpower for the military alone to provide all those functions. With your great and wonderful store of knowledge and wisdom, just how would YOU have handled those needs????????

All of thier mercenaries are ex-special forces... SEALS, Green Berets, Rangers, Delta, Combat Comm, PJ's and others. And they don't "recruit" in the same sense as the military does. They don't stand on the street corner and hand out flyers or advertise on TV. The people in this organization go to the organization to join. They want to join. And they love thier jobs.

Lemme guess: not starting a war I don't have the manpower to fight is not one of my options, is it ?

But about those "needs":
at worst a deliberately adopted strategy by people arranging for what most would call an unfortunate outcome.
