Kiz,
Yup. But there are people who do believe such things, which make them perfect targets for wonderful fun and ridicule.
But on a more serious note many such people are in positions of power and can and do affect our lives. While we might make jokes here I think it is important for the continued safety, survival, and more importantly the continued progress of the human race - that we attempt to eliminate or significantly reduce the impact of irrational religious activities from the world.
Until then the battle continues as it has for thousands of years. But progress is very noticeable. Only a few hundred years ago very few would have dared openly state they were atheist, and even as recently as the middle of the 20th century there were laws in the USA that banned atheists from being witnesses in courts of law.
The increasing secularization of the world brings with it increasing freedoms from indoctrination and the knowledge to choose without fear of retribution.
