God is OK. His fan clubs cause all the problems.

As an atheist, I do not believe in god.

It amused me when a a theist friend of mine made the remark which titles this Thread.

I think it's hilarious. Your friend can see the problem, which I would agree with except for one tiny problem

The many fan clubs, which I am presuming your friend belongs to one, don't have a "OK idol". They have manufactured their OK idol from myths

It boils down to all the fan clubs fighting over which non existent invisible god is the best non existent invisible god

You can imagine if Hollywood had 4,200 (current estimate of number of religions) non existent actors each with a fan club fighting over which was the best presentation their actor had appeared in when in truth NONE of their actors have turned up to ANY presentation

:)

Little saying to help hold things together.
It maybe a reflection to see only positive, the implication seeming to idicate God is a good guy.
I say in the same way.. I am losing weight. My hair is getting blacker... One could be unkind and call them lies but you can assemble a few that help somehow.
I like sales training all motivational with very little on the sales process as such... But they often ga e little sayings to run rather than ciunting to 100 and exhailing into apaper bag.
For example.. Champions dont get mad champions get even.
Not a perfect mantra, if that is what it is, but helps to maybe cool the anger before a responce to something confronting.

wholly incapable of comprehending GOD
created Gods in man's own image.

What god?
If you are asking about my friend, he is referring to the Christian god.

BTW: If some law was passed (very unlikely in the USA) requiring a person to profess a belief in some god, I would choose Athena. She was the Greek god of wisdom & perhaps a few other concepts.

yes, remember God loves you! here is a glaring example.

he loves you so much to create a disgustingly, cruel and depraved system where life is pitted against life for survival.

God is OK ---
Sure. Of any god ever invented, you can probably find a description somewhere in his scriptures or body of theological commentary, that you find morally acceptable.
Taking that as a standard, you can extrapolate what the fan club should be, and criticize it for failing to meet your standard.
Of course it's all arbitrary, with no given base or definition, and so much superstitious gibberish (much of it by very clever people) and marketing copy (by even more clever people) has been written that anyone can find whatever they're looking for.
And then the god turns out to be Kevin Spacey and you have to cancel your fan club membership anyway.
