for the christians: does this god-proof hold water?

- without god there is no absolute/objective truth.
- atheists say, that there is no god.
- so, according to their claim, there is no objective truth.
- so that their own claim (if correct) cannot be the truth - it would be a self-contradiction.
- hence without the existence of god the claim "there is no god" would be illogical.
- conclusion: there must be a god.

christian fellow posters, do you find this proof convincing?
if not, would you please refute it for me?

(non-believers, may i please i ask you to leave this one to the christians if possible?)

with thanks to ywgwys(klaus)

I am a Christian but this proves nothing. You could just as easily use this to “prove” (not) the existence of the Easter Bunny or anything else.

- without the Easter Bunny there is no absolute/objective truth.
- atheists say, that there is no Easter Bunny.
- so, according to their claim, there is no objective truth.
- so that their own claim (if correct) cannot be the truth - it would be a self-contradiction.
- hence without the existence of the Easter Bunny the claim "there is no Easter Bunny" would be illogical.
- conclusion: there must be an Easter Bunny.

In your version, the first premise is wrong because absolute/objective truth exists whether or not God exists. The truth that Gravity holds us on this Earth is true whether or not God exists.

Best Wishes!
Ken
