It's an infliction being educated in English, so I end up being surrounded by idiots.

There are two groups of people

1. Those that hear what they want to hear

2. Those who listen to what is actually said

Trump said, Something like that'. The idiom, "Something like that" in English is, "Something along those lines; something similar to that".

So if some think Trump said, "Inject yourself with disinfectant" do so because they hate Trump, or they're having a laugh and winding others up, or they're dumber than a rock.

So anyone who thinks Trump said inject yourself with disinfectant, please click on the link and choose one or two.

This is a transcript of what Trump said: (key phrases marked in red by me)

"So I asked Bill a question some of you are thinking of if you're into that world, which I find to be pretty interesting. So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether its ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said, that hasn't been checked but you're gonna test it. And then I said, supposing it brought the light inside the body, which you can either do either through the skin or some other way, and I think you said you're gonna test that too, sounds interesting. And I then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute, and is there a way you can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it'd be interesting to check that. So you're going to have to use medical doctors, but it sounds interesting to me, so we'll see. But the whole concept of the light, the way it goes in one minute, that's pretty powerful."

Knowing Trump's penchant for sacking people who disagree with him in public, is Bill going to reply saying "No that's not right, we're not going to test either idea"? And, sure enough, nobody contradicts Trump.

Trump thus leaves his audience - a press conference, beamed to millions of Americans - with the impression that both ideas are going to be tested for efficacy, on his instructions.

A secondary issue also arises: what kind of dumb-as-a-rock idiot would trust the judgement of a president who could even make such stupid suggestions?

This is what Bill should have answered "Sorry Mr ,er President we are not going near that"

The same dumb as a sack of hammers idiot who believes his lame revision of what he said the previous day.

Yes, by George, an attempted reverse ferret!

Collector's item - it's something you rarely see Trump do.

(And a remarkably feeble attempt, at that.)

Once upon a time
We had a tv show named Dallas
The lead character on the show was J.R.Ewing
(the actor used to play opposite barbara eden[the stuff that wet dreams are made of]---whose belly button we never saw)
Of J.R. it was claimed that he was "the man who everyone loves to hate".
sound familiar?

I knew that the "news" media was irretrievably fucked up
when the teaser for the nightly news was
"Who shot J.R."

Hard to believe anyone would actually defend Trump after that serious blunder.

Tell us Benson, what sane person would even suggest such a thing to be tested? Then, tell us how you're the one surrounded by idiots?

What's funny about that is J.R. was nowhere near as insane as Trump.

The fact that Trump feels it’s funny to be sarcastic about anything having to do with this pandemic, is pretty pathetic.

Trumps advice
sort of
after a social encounter
strip down naked and spray yourself with a 50% solution(100 proof) alcohol and water ----get some 101 proof whiskey and put some of that disinfectant on the inside
then sunbathe nude for 20 minutes or so(get some vitamin D)

wow
reads like a happy "new norm"

J.R. was portrayed as a despicable and corrupt human being that was deserving of the hate he received. Sound familiar?
People who have seen the show tell me he was a despicable and corrupt fictional human being - Wikipedia agrees.
So not just "portrayed", eh? There is a reality involved - even with J R Ewing.
(key phrases marked in red by me)
I took these as being more "key" to Benson's assault pivot:
I said, supposing it brought the light inside the body, which you can either do either through the skin or some other way
And I then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute, and is there a way you can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning.

Trump did in fact suggest

- to his base of anti-vaxxers and AGW deniers and people who have been deriding scientific research generally as something academics do according to their elitist mentality and bribery by George Soros or other Jews,

to a base that responded to the suggestion (possibly a projection) that Clinton was running a child sexual abuse operation from the basement of pizza parlor by showing up at that pizza parlor with firearms ready to kill people -

that injecting disinfectant internally ( under the skin or "some other way") was an interesting idea that should be tested.

We owe the comedians for jumping on that one quickly, before it killed somebody.
A secondary issue also arises: what kind of dumb-as-a-rock idiot would trust the judgement of a president who could even make such stupid suggestions?
There are 63 million of them, and they all but unanimously claim that calling them "dumb" is how the liberal elite came to be at fault for getting Trump elected (also "racist", on alternate Wednesdays.) It wasn't the Republican voter's fault that they voted for Trump, see. They were driven to it by the elite elitism of the elite liberal fascisocialists who disrespect their real Americanness and sincere belief in basic American principles as embodied in the Confederacy.
If the liberal elites had treated them with respect, they would have behaved much better - somehow (they are a bit vague on exactly how, but much better for sure).

So if some think Trump said, "Inject yourself with disinfectant" do so because they hate Trump, or they're having a laugh and winding others up, or they're dumber than a rock.
Nobody claims that Trump said "inject yourself with disinfectant." What he did say was that disinfectant "knocks it out in one minute" and hoped there was a "way you can do something like that by injection" because "that sounds interesting to me." Those are his words. If you don't believe he said that, you are dumber than a rock.

Now, unfortunately, Trump supporters ARE often dumber than rocks, which is why ER departments have been getting hundreds of calls as to whether they can do that or not - and sadly have seen several deaths from people doing something the president suggested they do. You can claim these people are dumb as rocks - but that's the way Trump likes them.

(Which puts into question the value in killing off your strongest supporters, but at most a few dozen people will die, so he won't lose _that_ many votes.)

"So I..... stupid suggestions?

Here's the part that I find important, I too have highlighted it in red as it's referenced to the part in blue -

"So I asked Bill a question some of you are thinking of if you're into that world, which I find to be pretty interesting. So the definition , "Something like that" means, "Something along those lines; something similar to that."

Now, those that support Trump and those with TDS probably read the transcript subjectively. I read it objectively.

I see it as he's waffled on about light etc.. all a bit in broken English. Then he mentions disinfectant and how it wipes germs out rapidly. Then he wonders if something along those lines; something similar to that can be injected. We're adults, we know that viruses are treated with vaccines and Trump wants someone to work like disinfectant against Coronavirus.

Now, Trump may not sound like the brightest, but in my opinion, those who think he meant injecting disinfectant into their body as a vaccine is stupid.

Take "Something like" out of the transcript, I would agree he said inject the disinfectant.

The "something like that" relates to "it knocks it out in one minute". It does not relate to "by injection or almost a cleaning".

My point was, and is, that Trump was giving listeners the impression that he was instructing researchers to look into the medical use of disinfectant and light. It is idle to pretend that he meant something other than medical use of disinfectant and light. He even suggests how you can bring the light inside the body, "through the skin or some other way". It is unambiguous.

He and his people know he has exposed himself as an idiot, too. Why else have they suddenly cut short the press conferences?
