The point is that he did not stop militarily before he destroyed any resistence and its carriers. It was his way to be left with friends only, when the conflict ended.
Alexander's success was of his personality and genius. Nobody was able to match those as his successor. But world was changed, as provinces stayed as he has set up them.A short-lived empire
