So, last night I postulated my PMMSK. I put the issue in a fork. If thermal radiation emits in cones, then the planar approach won't work; but then the cylindrical approach does work. However, if radiation is emitted in a Lambertian fashion, the cylindrical approach will not work, but the planar approach will. Its a win-win situation, and I win both times.
Whatever will I do now that I've succeeded beyond all hope?
I'll build a tower, made of ice. In the middle of the ocean, I'll sit and watch until I die. . .
but not without internet access!
