LONDON - British serial killer Harold Shipman may have killed himself to ensure that his wife got his pension, a newspaper said yesterday.

This case intruiges me. Shipman never explained his motivation behind killing what now appears to be in the region of 297 patients during his career as a family Doctor.
His suicide in wakefield prison provided a new twist in the case in that relatives of the victims feel that they have been robbed of any explaination as to why the Doctor killed their loved ones and hence any prospect of closure has now been burried with Shipman.
But the second twist that has emerged is the issue of the £100,000 lumpsum and £10,000 per annum pension that Shipman's widow will now receive.
It seems a man who murdered 297 patients who trusted him had enough compassion to kill himself to ensure his widow could live out the rest of her life in comfort.
Are there any ethical/moral implications regarding Primrose Shipman receiving the money?
Should the money go to the relatives of the victims?

thoughts please.
