Colds!

Why are colds so prolific? I am just getting over one but it would appear that it will not secure I am immune to getting another one in a months time. Surely the cold is the ultimate in transmittable life? Whats its secret and will we ever be able to wipe it out?

That and the fact that 'cold' covers a wide variety of illnesses.
