Censorship alive and well in Cincinnati

This article is a little dated but I can assure you, nothing has changed in this retro-city. A local art-theatre decided to cut a sex scene from a film in order to avoid the local "community values" statutes. He didn't bother to check with the director, the distributor or to tell the public. BUT he got caught by a local reporter (who was later punished, BTW).

Original article exposing the self-censor:

"I have one suggestion: It's proof Cincinnati is as intolerant as ever."

Reporter's punishment:

http://citybeat.com/2001-06-21/ban.shtml

"The operator of the Esquire and Mariemont theaters has banned CityBeat Film Editor Steve Ramos and cut all ties with the newspaper.

The ban came one week after Ramos reported the operator had illicitly altered a film playing at the Esquire in Clifton..."

Censorship mission accomplished!! Cincinnati is safe.
