Cardioechogram on the inside?

I was born with a hole in my heart and it was getting smaller, but recently I got an EKG and they said it had gotten bigger and they were going to give me a cardioechogram on the inside. I don't know the exact term for it, but he said they stick a tube down your esophogus to your chest to get a better look from the inside. I'm just curious about this procedure and wondered if anyone knows about it.

Gastroscopy. It is used to examine esophagus and stomach (I've had it). I am surprised that it could be used for the heart. I thought angiograms were used for that.
