When you're not logged in, these ads appear beside the religion subforum. The commercialization of religion tends to be aimed at the theist. Doesn't appear as if the atheists are the intended target. Gee, I wonder why?

Just look in this outhouse of literary masterpieces....

There is obviously money to be made. Maybe this belongs in Ethics because taking advantage of the delusional just doesn't seem right. But then again they may deserve getting flimflammed. So much focus on the doom and gloom wouldn't you say?

Do books on these subjects have any real value other than their price tag? Who in the hell buys into shit like this? Who visits those websites? Surely not all theists recommend this garbage, do they? The world is in trouble if they do.

I find it a little odd that these ads are situated here because this subsection doesn't contain many potential buyers, save a few. Does our forum hierarchy have a say in what ads go on the website?

I find these ads no more stupid and/or offensive than ads for the latest miracle diet or weight loss pill or hair serum or plastic surgery procedure, or any other ad. Have you honestly not realized that most people in our society are morons and that greed and ethics are at complete odds? And people call me naïve. Sheesh.

Lori, have you got a burr in your bonnet?

If most people are morons and most people are theists then that would mean most theists are .......!:D Perhaps a cheesy reason to remain atheistic at this point.

I have pieces of Mohammed's foreskin for sale, or perhaps I can interest you in a sliver of wood from Christ's cross? A microscope slide of Buddha's belly button lint?

You also said I was surrounded by theists, 90% of the world, was it, Lori?

Yes, we do realize most people in our society are morons.

Its how most atheists get ahead in the world. Its the rational thing to do, exploit the weak.

Here is a book you can buy cheap at amazon.com to enlighten you.

Editorial Reviews - The-Profits-Of-Religion
Product Description
This excoriating critique of religion, especially as represented by powerful clerical institutions, is a lesser-known work by Upton Sinclair (1878-1968), who had earlier become famous for his novel THE JUNGLE. More than just a broadside against religion, THE PROFITS OF RELIGION (1918) is the work of an impassioned, idealistic socialist writing at the end of the First World War, when the notion of an international socialist revolution still seemed like a very real possibility to many of the left-leaning thinkers of the day.
Sinclair's chief concern is social justice and his aim is to enlighten common people by training his critical intelligence on the many hypocrisies of established religion, which stand in the way of achieving a just society for all He is particularly incensed by the collusion of religion with the power structure of capitalism in exploiting the poor to increase its own wealth while ignoring the obvious material needs of the less fortunate..
This work, written before Sinclair and others on the American Left became disillusioned with Soviet-style socialism, offers a fascinating glimpse into the intellectual currents prevalent on the left at the beginning of the twentieth century.

What they need is to be watched and herded. They need to be led to pasture and protected from harm. But most of all they need a shepherd.

What they need is an education other than what religion offers. Iran would use teenagers by having them run throught minefields clearing the mines during the war with Iraq. The deluded being abused.
