Can't stop growing old.

How do you deal with growing old? Does it ever get you down?

I try not to think about it much. I try to just let the time pass by without worrying about age or time to much. I keep busy inventing, walking, sailing, swimming, reading and many other things to pass the day away. Most of all I enjoy going out with 23 year old women although they are very costly these days. ;)

I think given the trend in modern medical, scientific and technological advances we very well could stop the aging process and stop death all together.

Not within at least a few hundred years. We are slowing aging down somewhat but many hurdles are still ahead.

Well scientists just have mapped the genome now they must find out what all the genes do. Then they must find a way to engineer the genes and fix any that may be bad or need to be changed in order to reduce aging. You will eventually die only it will take longer. You can always die of diseases, accidents, murder, wars and on and on so you could pass away without growing old at all as many people do now.

We will never stop ageing..

Science may come up with a way to make us "appear" ,many years younger than we really are.

But, internally, we will continue to age.

As far as stopping death.. Every living creature, has died, or will die.

Yeah, it's a bummer..

Peace,
Gremmie.

I'm turning 26 Sept. 6th. Honestly, I don't care all that much. Physically, I am getting older. But, I still have the same mentality that I did when I was 20. I guess that explains why I'm more attracted to 20 year old women than those "my age." The downside to that is that I was fairly mature at 20... and I have to wade through all the immaturity.

But, I see myself at 50 being one of those rare guys that don't bitch and moan about being "too old" to do this-that-or-the-other.

Yes, and when one turns 50, one can somewhat see what it will be like to be 100. Yet the first 7 years of life are tricky to remember, so one who is 7 doesn't usually make the connection, "now I know what it's like to be 14 years old"... It's tough for the youth to use their "mind's memory" as a measuring device. It's tough for any age group.

I feel old at 20. I kinda feel 15-ish emotionally.

I have some cool lines beneath my eyes and nose. I wouldn't mind a few more but not too many. Some facial lines look tough and kinda warrior-like. Too many and you look like an old fart whose collagen has deserted them. :(

Then I generally bang on the wall with a broom...yelling "God damn whippersnappers!!! Turn that shit down!" while shaking my cane. :)

What do you mean? That because I have nothing from personal experience to have an accurate image of what it'll "really be like" when I'm 50? True, I don't know what it's like to be 50 because I have no personal experience to draw upon. However, however, I've been around enough people at that age group (and above) to know that there are the few that don't buy into the adage that they're "old." For example, I was trained in skydiving by a 60 year old. One could say he's 60 going on 30. (side note: he's got the world record for the most number of naked tandem jumps... with young females, of course). A few times, I've jumped out of a plane with a 70-something guy. But then I ask my parents if they want to jump and they say "we are too old."

For as long as I can remember, I've always believed that the day that you give up is that day that you turn "old."

Actually the day you can't remember is the day that you have "adjusted" to being a seasoned citizen! ;)

What do you mean?
What do you mean, "what do you mean?"
There is more to being older than "gathering exotic experiences", and "tangling with youth" in conversation.

We sometimes want to emulate the elderly, when in truth, the elderly have really messed up their world.

We sometimes want to help the youth emulate our own childhood experiences, when in fact, our childhood was no blueprint for "life experience success".

If the elderly cannot grow mentally, they remain forever...children.

Actually WE ALL have screwed up our planet! No ONE person is to blame for the problems we have but it will take all of us to try and help solve them...if we want to. Many would like to keep on creating more and more problems so they can do as they want without the regard of others well being.

I like that! I'll take being childlike until I die, I hope.;)
