Can truth and justice co-exist?!

Justice is something that a society makes laws about and also has courts to uphold those laws. Truth is universal, it needs no laws, per say to be truth, it just is.

Agreed. So the answer is clearly: yes, and it does.
Although I have to admit that it is kind of rare.

This amounts to the question "can justice exist", as truth always exists.

Negative on that captain. Facts always exist. Truth? Not so.
Obi Wan: Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

If truth always existed? lol, What would be the need for Sciforums? We use facts to try to support our points of view which we deem to be the truth. This is why debates get so heated, because people have this mistaken belief that, indeed, the truth always exists. When in reality, only the facts do.

For example, in the Gaza strip, there are many people here that think it is populated by terrorists, yes? On the other hand, there are others that think it is populated with freedom fighters, correct?

The only thing we can agree on, is the people in the West Bank are using violent means to struggle against oppression. Ooops, even there, I let my point of view show. I should have said they oppose Oppression/Defensive Precautions, b/c, we don't really agree on what the "truth" is. It's very difficult to keep language couched it completely neutral terms when your trying to stick with JUST THE FACTS.

Where is the truth? Kind of fuzzy isn't it? Depends upon your point of view. Only the facts truly exist.

Israel uses self defensive means to protect it's national interest. Or, conversely, Israel is an imperial, oppressive, occupation force.

What's the truth? Only the facts can be discerned. What they mean depends on your point of view.

If the truth COULD be agreed upon, than determining justice would indeed be easy, wouldn't it? But therein lay the rub, we don't agree what the truth is, we only agree on what the facts are.

So, in the final analysis, "truth," is anything but universal.

And generally? Justice is had by those with the most power and/or money, it has nothing to do much with the truth, except that it is those with the most power and money are those whose truth becomes THE TRUTH, and by which justice is metered.

how could they not?
justice might not be perfect and our understanding of what consitutes "the truth" may also never be perfect but they are not oposing ideals

There is only one truth regardless of whether or not we make up our own version.
