Scientists have identified a gene which they believe may play a key a role in determining who develops osteoporosis or brittle bone disease.

The gene called Alox15 affects the density of important minerals in bones.

Lifestyle factors, such as poor diet, can increase the risks of developing osteoporosis. However, scientists have also suspected genes are involved.

This finding, published in the journal Science, could lead to new drugs to fight the condition.

The Complete rundown

Now how about the putting this discovery into practical use. How fast?

There are so many discoveries, that have been made recently that haven't been put to good use... its taking them forever to take pure science to an implicational level. It’s no wonder though since the pay in the science field is shitty (with the exception of biochemists) few people want to work there.

That’s an interesting discovery, have you heard of their discovery on the Y chromosome apparently males won't die out do to lack of genetic recombination it's a pity.
