Best book ever...?

When I saw the cartoon for the first time, I didn't know how wise it was. Even some years ago, I just watch the movie but was distracting thinking of philosophy... One of my Portuguese teachers already gave me this book to read... I wasn't interested, didn't know what I was losing...

But now I know this book... and it's actually much wiser than it seems. I'm talking about
"Alice in Wonderland"
by Lewis Carol ;)

Opinions are welcomed! :)

See some quotes...

"'Curiouser and curiouser!'"

"Alice came to a fork in the road. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?', responded the Cheshire cat. 'I don't know.' Alice answered. 'Then,' said the cat, 'it doesn't matter."

"'Who are YOU?' said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'"

"'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
'You must be,' said the Cat, 'or you wouldn't have come here.'
Alice didn't think that proved it at all; however, she went on' And how do you know that you're mad?'
'To begin with,' said the Cat, 'a dog's not mad. You grant that?'
'I suppose so,' said Alice.
'Well, then,' the Cat went on, 'you see, a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.'"

"Alice: If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrariwise, what it is, it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would."

"One can't believe impossible things," said Alice.

"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

Truthseeker,

have you read any Anthony de Mello's books? I would really recommend "The Song of The Bird". It has lots of wisdom there. :)
oh, and I just finished reading Matilda by Roald Dahl... read it too sometime, Nelson... it's really funny and you'll find that you have many similarities with her (the child)... ;)

Phillip K Dick's Do androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

The Lost World by Michael Crichton

THe Long Goodbye

Umm.....Anything by Douglas Adams.

Seriously think it is impossible to say what the best book ever is.

more child-like wisdom

winnie the pooh (the originals)

the little prince

Yes, the movie is based on this book, which is so much better than the movie. I love all Roald Dahl's books... funny and mischievous, yet wise. ;)

Yes... I know I have similarities with her... that's why I loved the movie... :)
