We are going off topic now, so no more from me on this.

This is a good quote from the New Testament condemning those who act on the exact letter of the law rather than giving justice. It is so radical that it is a proof to me against those who believe that the person of Jesus was an invention.
"Woe to you teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices -- mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law -- justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel" (Matthew 23:23,24)

Taj Mahal (my eyes) = India

cultural identity = history of nation preservation through architecture, ideas, people

national borders: control of population inflow/outflow, control of illegal immigration, jobs retained for people of the country, less violence as a result of long lasting cultural identity between people of nation, ability to defend against possible invader, and etc.

Seems to me your cultural identity is limited. This week alone, my cultural experiences ranged from art by Olaf van Cleef at Cymroza art gallery, to a mono-actor play called Khatijabai of Karmali terrace [a monologue on the life of an upper class Muslim woman in the years just after the Raj] to a showing of the Vagina monologues this weekend. Whats my cultural identity?

Seems to me narrowing your experience of human thoughts and endeavours is a poor cultural identity.

Government stabilized after war as a result. Many people in purges returned back to homeland. Siberia became a more developed land and as it stands now Novosibirsk made by the people who were purged to Siberia is the No.3 city of Russia.
 
My own view on this is that National Borders are an evil.
We cannot abandon them immediately, but that should be our ultimate aim.

Large bundles of states are an intermediate position.

If the USSR had joined the EC rather than split into pieces, we would be in a better position than we are today.
Each state should have been individually polled of course.

Ultimately you will prefer a particular association to a particular culture in this case Indian muslim culture, in which case you will address this association unto others, like me.

(*Vagina monologues is one of the most disgusting pieces attributed to culture I have encountered)

USSR collapsed allowing the breach of borders, a nation once strong and proud has lost its power and its economy has fallen as a result of breach of national borders.

If USSR has joined EC, than there would be more wars with Baltic states partisan movements, I am sure.

Could you tell me which of the ones I cited is Indian Muslim culture? The monologue on Khatijabai was equivalent to reading about any upper class woman after the Raj. There was nothing to distinguish her from any other woman of her social class. I do not consider any of them as representative of Indian Muslims as a culture and I live in a city with over 300 mosques, which no one with ANY brains would call a Muslim city.

well I thought of Khatijabai of Karmali terrace, but now that you said it so...perhaps you lost your Indian cultural identity, which is a bad thing.
 
The EC has worked very well, and we owe to it peace and increased wealth
Not spending money on killing each other for the last 64 years has been very remunerative.
Some countries, such as Ireland, have progressed from a semi medieval level, to become a prosperous modern country. Albeit present difficulties.
You may be right that a large scale integration of the USSR into a greater Europe would have been problematic, but I hope that it eventually happens.

What is Indian cultural identity? Does the fact that Olaf van Cleef [of Cartiers] paints Indian deities and uses the Taj Hotel as his second address mean that he is now Indian? Does the fact that we can also watch the Vagina Monologues in Hindi mean that Indian women can also relate to those stories? What is Indian culture?
 
And how exactly would this work - a world without borders..? Sounds to me like an other ideology à la communism. More unrealistic sissy bullshit.
