Bacteria resistant to the most common polymyxin Colistin, the antibiotic used as the last resort for some kinds of infections, such as E. coli and Klebsiella, have been found in Denmark and China.
Several days ago, a patient in Denmark has become infected with an untreatable form of salmonella. In addition, an untreatable bacteria was found in five samples of chicken imported in Denmark from China (via Germany).
"The discovery means that gram-negative bacteria, which cause common gut, urinary and blood infections in humans, can now become “pan-resistant”, with genes that defeat all antibiotics now available. That will make some infections incurable, unless new kinds of antibiotics are brought to market soon."

I'd like to ask fellow biologists how serious this is?
