Aung San Suu Kyi.. The Fall of a Human Rights Icon..

You posted about what aid they may be delivering as an answer to what they had to say....
so... uhm.. what do they officially have to say about Aung San Suu Kyi actions or inactions?
Read the link. They have been requesting that the ban her office implemented on UN observers be lifted to allow an investigation to take place, "to no avail".

Her government is also being urged to investigate human rights abuses, and to end the military actions against the ethnic minorities.

A meeting attended by US officials, as well as those from other countries, just before she gave her now never to be forgotten speech, resulted in her being urged to do more and to condemn the violence.

It is obvious that the US is not going to criticise her too much. The UK and other Western countries are not so polite and are criticising her lack of action. That is to be expected.

I think you might find that a lot of communication goes on that is not in a press release or public knowledge...

There was a video published on SBS that showed what were presumably Buddhist militia ( young men) wielding machetes supposedly burning down villages whilst a few military personal passively watched on. Whilst looking for the video to post here, I watched a number of videos most of which demonstrated incredible animosity towards the Rohingya, from various quarters around the globe.
India in particular.
I am stunned by the amount of hostility displayed and can only wonder what they could have possibly done to deserve such anger and hatred.
My guess is very little.... but that leaves the question.. Why the hate if there is no rational reason for it?

Politics, ethnicity, religious differentials are not enough for them to deserve this "less than an animal" hatred. IMO
It seems even now the world is playing only lip service towards what they consider to be a unwanted distraction, a need that is annoying and a requirement that they feel obliged to fulfill.

It is truly puzzling to me as to why they, the Rohingya, are apparently (to me) despised to vehemently by so many different cultures.

I kid you not QQ, if you start going down the dank conspiracy hole in this thread again, I will ban you from this thread.

Most of the articles linked in this thread discuss in detail why they are being persecuted. It isn't hard to click on one and read it.

Pressure is mounting on Aung San Suu Kyi, with the UN human rights experts now calling on her to meet with some of the persecuted Rohingya:

Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi should personally meet members of the Muslim Rohingya minority which is being subjected to ongoing persecution by the military, a group of U.N. human rights experts said on Tuesday.

Myanmar has rejected U.N. accusations that its forces are engaged in ethnic cleansing against Rohingya Muslims in response to coordinated attacks by Rohingya insurgents on the security forces on Aug. 25.

The military campaign has sent nearly 430,000 refugees fleeing to Bangladesh, the group of seven U.N. officials said.

They include the special rapporteurs on human rights in Myanmar, on minority issues and on racism.

"We call on Aung San Suu Kyi to meet the Rohingya personally," the officials said in a statement.

They said the implementation of promises by Suu Kyi to address the crisis, including that perpetrators would be held accountable, would amount to an "empty gesture" since so many Rohingya had fled.

Given she has never even visited the region, I don't think they will get far, but at this point, anything could help.

The UK, meanwhile, has canceled military training exercises in Myanmar and training Burmese soldiers, in light of the genocide and ethnic cleansing committed by said Burmese military.

Jeremy Corbyn will go one step further and directly implore Aung San Suu Kyi to do more to end the ethnic cleansing.

Please delete all my posts to this thread... Thanks you
Err no. We don't mass delete posts like that.

Pity about that..
Though, perhaps later, I can refer to this thread when discussing rules about propaganda and one sided, close minded threads....
You were asked to support your claims or retract them. I don't care what you believe about the genocide in Myanmar or what you believe about Aung San Suu Kyi. You were simply and repeatedly asked to support your arguments.

Opening up a new thread will still have that requirement. So you spouting stuff like 'they want to establish an Islamic Caliphate', for example, will require evidence. Regardless of where you post it on this website.

When you present a balanced account I may indeed alter my opinion.
So far you have posted nothing that indicates a balance review of the situation. Your pro Rohingya is blatantly obvious and censorship of anything that opposes it is seriously detrimental to proper discussion.
I challenge you in the interests of balance to post anything that supports the opposing view.
You wont and can't, is what I would anticipate.

I would be overjoyed if you presented evidence to counter what I presented, QQ. That is all we asked for, repeatedly. Instead, you presented what was tantamount to conspiracies with no evidence whatsoever.

Which is why you were advised to present evidence to support your argument or to retract what you have claimed.

There has been presented ample evidence of past insurgencies instigated by Rohingya affiliated groups with the aim of securing independence and autonomy for the Rohingya.
Posted on numerous occasions. The history of this conflict is there for any one to read and research.
So yet again you defend the indefensible.
If any one else who posted as you do, I would be seriously considering that they are being paid to promote a cause.

there is ample evidence to support a counter position and I await your posting it in the interests of balanced discussion.

Quantum Quack

You are the one who claimed that the Rohingya, among other things:

1) Want independence from Burma and want to set up their own State;
2) Intend to establish an Islamic Caliphate in the region.

Not me. Not anyone else. Just you.

Despite a mountain of evidence provided that showed that they do not want independence from Burma, you persisted in making the exact same claim and spread propaganda.

And now you expect me to provide evidence to support your conspiracy theories and propaganda that you deliberately chose to spread in this thread?

You were asked to support your arguments in this thread with evidence or to retract it. That does not entail demanding I provide evidence to support your claims.

there is ample evidence to support a counter position
Great, and I await you providing said evidence with great anticipation!

I await your posting it in the interests of balanced discussion.
Sorry dude, I'm not the one who made those claims. You are.

Trolls tend to follow certain patterns of behaviour that may include:
  • Posting of similar responses and topics repeatedly.
  • Avoiding giving answers to direct questions put to them.
  • Never attempting to justify their position.
  • Demanding evidence from others while offering none in return.
  • Vanishing when their bluff is called, only to reappear in a different thread arguing the same point.
  • Deliberately derailing discussions onto tangential matters in order to try to control the flow of discussion.
Trolls are not tolerated on sciforums.

So stop trolling.

If you persist, you will be moderated.

Can please just take a moment to acknowledge just how freaking stupid this comment is once we take in the implications here? Really comes across as saying we need to allow the people committing genocide have a platform to explain why their victims deserve to be exterminated. I mean i've read through this entire thread and quacks come across as more than a little at times well to be blunt bigoted but jesus fing christ the idea that one should question and denigrate the claims of the victims of ethnic cleansing is more than a little disturbing above and beyond base bigotry. I mean near as i can tell in quacks head the idea that the Rohingya are being ethnicly cleansed is to be to biased to be involved in the debate.

It is not why I may think or other wise, it is why the Government of Myanmar, military and the ethnic Buddhist population may think they are deserving of such horrendous treatment that is fundamentally important, after all they are the ones committing the atrocities against the Rohingya.
And in case you don't realize it, it is the one planting the land mines and performing the ongoing atrocities that need to be understood with out necessary agreement, so that a solution may ultimately be found.

The thing you may fail to realize is that there is reason to believe that if Aung is removed from office millions of Rohingya Muslims run a very strong risk of being exterminated..in the very least this would be one of the main reasons the international community has not called for her to resign her office. IMO
Is there evidence to support my opinion... probably not.

You have yet to provide any evidence that she is keeping them alive.

Unless you are going to argue that supporting the military in their genocide and ethnic cleansing, refusing to refer to them as Rohingya, spreading propaganda against them to incite hatred and violence, not to mention denying any wrongdoing by the military as they carry out said ethnic cleansing and genocide is her keeping them alive.. In which case, it would just make you look foolish.

in the very least this would be one of the main reasons the international community has not called for her to resign her office. IMO
The international community expects her to act in accordance to her position and actually help them. Which is why there is such an outcry because she is failing in her duties as the leader of the nation to actually care for the people of her nation.

Is there evidence to support my opinion... probably not.
Then perhaps hold off on said opinion.

Which has been covered extensively in this thread and you have failed to understand any of it. When a Government spreads propaganda against a group within its population and incites and commits acts of ethnic cleansing and genocide against that group, and when they clearly state why they are doing it, it seems bizarre to keep asking "why are they doing it?" and then repeating the same propaganda against said group as justification..
