In an age of smart missiles and suicide bombers it seems the word "terrorist" can be applied to anybody who chooses not to share your point of view. The UK home secretary David Blunkett sees those terrorists everywhere (something of a suprise considering he's blind).

Definately, maybe some people already think you are for even considering such a question, you might need pre-emptive treatment
 
I would be entierly unsuprised if given the current definition and broad application if i was put under the category of terrorist but like i give a (insert explecetive here)

Its the case anywhere when they go to far and push on too many people more and more people find themselves being labled criminal or terrorist or being harrased and thats the barrier.
Once you've been labled why keep trying to avoid it, when they go to far a lot of people will decide enough is enough whats left to loose and start fighting back and then they will have all the terrorists they wanted so badly only i dont think they will be able to handle what they get.

Where the police are empowered to use anti-terrorist legislation as justification to arrest protestors and subject them to searches etc etc. This means that you are being prevented from protesting, becasue you are suddenly under the aegis of an anti terrorism law, ie they think you are or might be a terrorist.

Will you please show where , in America, people have not been allowed to protest against something because the police thought they were terrorists. There are protests everyday in America. In Ft. Lauderdale just yesterday there were over 1000 protestors outside the building where the President was speaking at.
 
I don't think so, unless maybe my opinions strike terror in the hearts of America hating left wingers and French.;)

Lets see if you give a shit when your in custody and denied right to council. (You gotta be a terrorist to get those kinda perks). This goes for Guthrie too. Gettin' picked up on the ATA (anti terrorism act) gives the state several days to do whatever they want with your sorry ass. They don't even have to tell your folks your nicked!
Finally for the Fudd
This really isn't a left/right issue. Imagine marching for your personal cause. (Anti gun control sounds good for you Fudd) You really wanna get banged up by the state as a 'terrorist'? What would your mates down the local 'Rod n Gun' have to say about that?
The beauty of the ATA is that the plod need nothing more than the idea that your a pain in the arse and wham! bam! your nicked without benefit of council. If this is how they use the ATA then God help us when blind Blunkett introduces compulsory ID cards.
With all that in mind do any brave souls still wanna defend the use of the ATA against non violent demonstrations?

hey DeeCee of course i would actually give a shit when they come for me but when that happens it would mean things have gone so far down mr Orwells predicton (Ironicaly under capitalism rather than socialism) that it wont be just me it will be hundreds if not more that are being rounded up and at that point i wont be the only one trying to head underground and give them all the terrorism they want.
They want to advance their goals whoppedee do, they want to disapear the people trying to stop them good for them they will get a fight, they want to start rounding up innocent people and making examples they will have more shit on their hands than they can ever clean off.

I specifically am talking about the guardian article here, which is about a specific UK problem we have, evidenced in the article, not anything that is going on in the USA.
 
The UK Police arrested a load of peaceful protesters at the Arms Fair in London using the Terrorism act as an excuse and that caused a lot of outrage, thats what i think he was on about ^_^.

Terrorists are rightly reviled for doing exactly what "lawful" citizens too often encourage and support armies in doing for them.

We'll always have random psychopaths, but we can deny all organized mass killers their support, and end large-scale senseless slaughter and suffering on every side.

To advance this process, the motivations and grievances of "terrorists" and governments must be given fair exposure and consideration on all sides. Suppression and distortion of information and understanding is causing terrorism and war.

Given sufficient objective information, majorities understand the folly of demanding the unreasonable. This is the only way that the war on terror on war will end.
