Are We Going to War With Iran?

It seems like the propaganda machine is churning and sabers are rattling. Could they be preparing us for yet another war? I read online that Iran is backing down from its threat to block the Strait of Hormuz, but what if Obama goes ahead with his plan to implement more sanctions? What will the Iranians then do?
 
TEHRAN, Iran • Talk of blocking the strategic oil route through the Strait of Hormuz is a discussion of the past, a commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard said Saturday in comments that seemed to back away from an earlier threat. But he said Iran had other, unspecified strategies for reacting to any Western aggression.

"Discourse about closing the Strait of Hormuz belongs to five years ago. Today's debate in the Islamic Republic of Iran contains new layers, and the time has not come to raise it," Gen. Masoud Jazayeri said in comments posted Saturday on the Guard's website, sepahnews.com.

So it seems again that our media has lied to everyone about this newest "problem" they have come up with to keep us occupied. I wonder why the media just can't get anything right any longer but just puts whatever lies and deciet out there for everyone to believe? :shrug:

I did not say, right now, or soon, I said one day for sure, and I didnt say who against who exactly, maybe not even USA, but the middle east is a hot area, where there is alot of tension.
 
Having talked online with a few Iranians, I get the impression that they are not very happy with their government, but they would defend their country with their lives if attacked. I kind of admire their passion.

The Russian built Kilo submarines are considered among the quietest diesel submarines in the world.

Good point. I doubt Obama would let it happen. If it were up to the Republicans, we would be there now. I'm wondering about the additional sanctions--where are we on that?
 
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Iran is a top 5 country when it comes to the size of it's Oil and Gas reserves. So the temptation is there for the West to invade if the opportunity presented itself.
Just saying.

It would be to hard to manage. I think we would be fighting the Iranians to the bitter end.
 
Because oil makes it important strategically and economically. It gives them the power, for instance, to develop nuclear weapons.

When the hunters of a tribe go out to hunt they are supposed to bring something back. I think Iran would bring horrible unnessecery loss to Americans. America does not have luxury for fruitless wars. They know we would drop nukes on them if they use it, so it would only be a defense. We have no worries. Hands off Iran. Lets trade with them. Take them in as business partners and get over this childish war tempertampering.

That has been the case for over 3 decades now. Both sides labor under various incentives to strike hostile poses, so look to more concrete questions of interest, capability and strategy if you want to guage the likelihood of war.

Iran will never block the Strait of Hormuz, short of some kind of doomsday scenario where the regime is being overthrown, because to do so would harm Iran much more than anyone else.

Same things they've done in response to the last umpteen rounds of sanctions?

Can you think of a single example wherein a country initiated a war in response to the imposition of sanctions?
