Aquatic Ape Theory

I think that the split of and chimps and human linneages with the traits that are intend to be explained with aquatic adaptation left only a too short window of time for the adaptation to a aquatic environment, subsequent abandon or new split out of there and exaptation of these adaptations to terrestrial life again. Also it doesn't seem strictly necessary to explain these things.
