Americans are Stupid

What I am really getting at is...Americans are no more intelligent or stupid then any other place. The country has the best of both worlds...some of the dumbest people ever and some of the brightest...its a land of extremes...

Last night, i was watching Nortans biggest blunders, which is just a program containing bloopers caught on tv, and one of the clips showed American tourists coming to Britain, and as they just got off the plane, a man said with his wife wrapped around him pointing into the sky, ''Is this the same sun we have in America.''

Suffice to say, the entire audience laughed. So did i. One reason why we have this stereotypical view of Americans, is because Americans are poorly educated, in the sense they don't get taught about the history of other countries, but instead everything is so patriotic, and that is what annoys me about it all.

I'm sure the words can express different meanings. Straight forwards you could apply "There is only one sun, therefore this is a dumb statement". However he could of been stating "This country is not as warm as where we are from, Is this the same sun? (Sarcasm)" This doesn't mean they don't know there is only one, just a statement in climate change. However sometimes people read comments wrongly.

In regards to "All Americans being Dumb".

I really don't think that's the case. For instance if you look at a social Hive, like a major city in a financial district, the people there will be competing for a limited number of jobs and high wages. Such limitations generates a Darwinistic survival of the fittest, where only those trained to survive get the job. (Namely having more credentials for employment).

This however isn't the same in the backwater remote countryside laden rural areas, I mean how many qualifications does a hick need to paint a fence, especially when his next door neighbour his closest competitor for the job is 30-50 miles up the road? The rural area's suffer in this regard, the lack of competition means the lack of need to gain any academic accreditation which in turn means people that don't know a whole lot about anything in particular.

The advent of the internet however will potentially change this, however it means those people out in the sticks have to first find out what a computer is before being able to learn from it. (There are Scam merchants selling 286's out there to these people because it's "Future modern" to them)

The end of the world comes, I'd rather live with those hicks than with the city folk. Who's smart then?

hey reiku, remember that time when you said that the melting of the antactic ice wouldn't cause any rises of the sea levels?

lol yeah, that was a funny one

so, are you american?

America may not be perfect, be we're the greatest country ever! The reason I say that is simple, we've produced more millionaires and middle class families then any other country.

TRailer trash. When i was a teen i loved to hang around trailer parks.

LOL, this statement makes me laugh Mr John but I don't know why....
I think in England we just call them gypsy camps,or if it is a sttled gypsy then they become pikey's...

I once hung around a gypsy site when I was 13 me and my mates (muxton Nr telford this was) and we got beaten up by about 6 blokes with bamboo sticks...
Well we were shooting their caravans with air rifles for the third day on the trot...lol

Unless a trailer park is like our caravan parks in which you can only live for I think it's about 8 months of the year...

so, are you american?

Yes, i do. But, i found out that is was an American that originally had composed the theory. The same day i offered the idea, was the same day i was told of its original inventor.

If icebergs melted the sea level wouldn't rise.

The ice in Antarctica is on top of land though, it is not floating.
At least not most of it.

Bush doesn't help matters for America either. He is like the icon of stupidity in political circles.

I must have missed this one. Hilarious!

This guy has a map of the world and on some of them he's crossed out Australia and written Iran, on others he's crossed out Australia and written either Korea or France.

Joking aside though, it's entertaining, but they've probably cut all the Americans who drew attention to the obvious 'mistake' - at least I hope they have.

Despite the disgusting stupidity of those people on tape, I am pretty confident that they represent a tiny minoirity, most of the people didn't respond that way I'm sure.

...That stupid old black hobo, shouting "Russia! China! Indonesia! Brazil!Canada!" Throwing his hands up with gusto! lol that guy was an idiot. hilarious!

I am fiercely patriotic, but I am also very aware of other countries and cultures. Although, its not that Ive been taught about them in schools, I actually read about other countries just for fun, its interesting to me. But no, I don't think Americans get nearly engouh education about the rest of the world.

I still do not understand why America has always been behind on education. Is it our politics? Our Economy? America is the wealthiest country in the world; is it just that we do not value education because of this?
