Texas rocks. I'm from Dallas, and it's not redneck at all. If you heard my accent, you would think I was more from the midwest....except when I say "y'all".

Houston, in my area everyone is white almost except for a few Latinos
I don't mind if it's rednecky at all. "Redneck" is just a term liberals use to describe American conservatives
I like American conservatives though so it's all good
Houston is ok..I lived there for 5 years...too humid...too spread out. Dallas is much better. Of course im not bias at all.

Perhaps I should have chosen a different country, but the point remains the same. There is no need and no point to these threads, yet national stereotypes seem to be thrown around the forum (especially of some countries) without any base or care of causing offence.
I'm not one for political correctness myself; it's just the hippocracy of it all. Despite obviously yourself and a few others who understood what the thread was meant to be, the majority of posters defended their country with outrage. It seems the English, like Christians, have just become used to it.

The original term Redneck was used to describe miners who belonged to a specific union in I believe Kentucky. I could be wrong as several states in the area do/did coal mining. They identified themselves by red handkerchiefs that they tied around their necks. That's why they were calledred necks. A little later the term described farmers who had their necks sunburned. Now it is used as an all purpose term for country people. However, I only use it to describe the exceptionally stupid.

• Many of us who were outraged at the time are so flummoxed by current events that we could only wish the world was laughing at us because we were trying to impeach a president over a blowjob.

The term "Redneck" never meant conservative or rather conservatives were never described as rednecks. I was only until recently that the change took place but even still is used mostly that way by people outside of U.S.
It was really used to describe people who would be mostly opposite of a conservative.
Autocrats? Either you don't know what that word means or you don't know anything about the British Monarchy - ignorance comes into it at some point.
