How the hell would it act as an anti-epileptic agent?
 
Because it stimulates the release of corticosteroids, which, as a group, are regulatory molecules that stabilize a wide variety of systems. It also works as a relaxant. I guess people who are susceptible to epileptic seizures have trouble regulating any number of chemical pathways, and ACTH helps them with that.
 
Um, I think I meant to take that out. You're right. The other bits were more important to the post anyway.
