A question about making theories of time

I'm curious: I was wondering about the increased interest that can lately be seen when it comes to time.

We have the following threads dealing with time:

-- What time is
-- Time (Your opinion)
-- Theory of time
-- A generative theory of time and space
-- (I was reading NewScientist ...)
-- Reversal

How come? It seems that time is an extremely intriguing issue. Why do we make so many theories about time? Is it because time is so important to us? Or because it is something that seems frustrating in its intangibleness? Or ...

Please discuss, make comments.

Or because it is something that seems frustrating in its intangibleness?
I think that's exactly what it is. It's like trying to describe what the outside of a box looks like when you are inside it.

Seeing that most of those topics are made by me I guess I should answer.
Well I can tell you why I made those threads. I made Time(your opinion) to get views on others about what they think time is before I released my own theory. Then of course I released my theory so it would be easier to explain my views on time travel, and the inevitable consequences associated with it. Unfortunetly since my topic failed horribly, I won't be doing so. My guess is that the rest of the topics manifested out of its own being presented with another unanswered question.

BTW, Reversal wasn't about time at first but I guess it is now o_O

Rosa your missing a topic in your list.

You forgot that new topic on time called:

A question about making theories of time.

inevitable consequences associated with time travel. That sounds like a hell of a topic to me. when did u post it? and i cant belive it went bad, try again. time seems to be a very hot topic now a days.

BTW- if u decide not 2 post it what do u think the consquences of time travel would be?

when did u post it?

Nope I never posted it, I said I was Going to post it, but since my theory of time was quickly ignored I never bothered posting my theory on time travel.

Its assosiciated with the idea that both the future and the past are related in some way and gets in depth as it begins explaining how the future effects the past but never vice versa. Its get into the point that the past is set but the future is not, and since there is an ever changing future means there there's everchanging consequences relating to the past blah blah blah.

Basically its the idea whom's scenerio deals with the possibility that, ironically, our future effects our past and present(maybe) in some way.

But I truly doubt that I'm ever gonna write it now, especially since I'm teaching myself C++ and sports are beginning again.

"the future effects the past but never vice versa."
how? wouldnt it be the other way around?

"Its get into the fact that the past is set but the future is not, and since there is an ever changing future means ever changing consequences relating to the past and blah blah blah."
with that in mind wouldnt that make time travel to the future impossible seeing as the future is always changing?

Not to the future but from the future to the past. I believe that at every moment presents a possible future, but at every advacement, at every 1/inifinitive of a millisecond, the future is changed, not dramatically though. Certain things will pertain to the future no matter how we go about doing things, unless there is an extreme social/technological/economical/etc shift during the present.

Personally, I think its 100% impossible to go into the future. Such an unbalanced environment would dystroy anyone instantaneously

how? wouldnt it be the other way around?

Its hard to explain...have you read my theory on time by chance?

interesting. I've always had this thought tell me what u think . I always thought that if a peson were to go forword or backwards in time that they would exist outside of time, now wouldnt that make that person unaffected by whatever were to occure within the time stream?

Of course, if they were outside of the time stream, but if this were so than perception would be lost and he would vanish from existence.

why would perception be lost? wouldnt u have to move outside of the time stream to move forward or back, and if not whats to say that time won't affect the traveler as they move through it?

Time, atleast according to my theory, is what gives us perception. Focal point of the interception between the past and the future bladablada. Without time we would lose that perception.

Why would you have to move outside of the stream? If you can move your perception along a timeline and into the past you could consequently move your physical body as well.

and if not whats to say that time won't affect the traveler as they move through it?

Effects us in what way?

what would protect the traveler from time ageing them as they move forward and making them younger as they move backwards (physically)

That is a question I cannot answer. Instead I have a question for you. Is it time that makes us age? Or is it just aging that rides along the time stream with us?

good one!!!!!!!! I think that aging is a direct effect of time progressing forward hence the reason why we dont grow yonger or devolve so i guess my answer is that time does age us and if not then us aging is our way of perceving time progress. what do u think?

what do u think?
and if not then us aging is our way of perceving time progress.

This is where I agree with you. This is what I was thinking at first, but since I haven't thought about it before I didn't say it right away. One of the biggest problem I have with this is death. If aging is just a way for us to percieve time's progress, then why have such horrible consequences? Instead this is what I think.

Perception is a natural things that everything experiances, whether it be from the first person or third person point of view. Along with perception comes horrible consequences, death, diseases, pain and suffering. And good ones as well, happiness, joy and love. Of course emotions only come to how we perceive the world, and pain from how we interpret feeling. Maybe not for another millenium or 2, but I believe at one point we will be able to alter our perception, whether it be mechanically or mentally. At this point the reality around us will change dramatically, death, pain and all things we no longer want to feel will be our choice, time will no longer be a factor and material possessions won't be bothered with. At this point, time travel could be achieved, mentally. Our perception of reality, when altered, will give us the ability to go forwards and backwards in time. So why haven't we encountered anyone from the future whom has this ability. The answer is we have, and we haven't. But that is all part of theory and it would take too long to write right now.

Aing is a matter of certain chemical processes taking place ... and in order for those processes taking place, some time is needed. We don't get old "because" of time, we get old because of those chemical processes taking place.

-rosa-
so you're saying that if time stoped we would continue to age, due to whatever chemical processes that take place within us?!?! :bugeye:
