I have came across two conflicting pieces of information. One newpaper article claims, that in Cowlitz County, presumably in Kelso, where subject to a tragedy involving a flying disk investigator who crashed and died in 1947 aboard a B-24 and in fact, the article which provides the newpaper clipping is referencing it as the first official air force crash in that area.

What I don't understand is that I found this piece of information saying that there was in fact a plane crash in Cowlitz county in 1945 which doesn't seem to have been reported on very well because I can't find any other information confirming this

Both of them where Bombers, but definitely different bombers, one being a B-24 other being a B-25 disaster. I wonder why the first article tries to claim it was the first air force related incident of any crashes in 1947, when the second link seems to have evidence for a crash which happened before this?

I've seen the exact same thing many times, quite simple, actually. Two unrelated reporters working on their own individual stories.
