imagine a gay frenchman speaking german...and you have dutch. that is how i learned to pronunciate correctly, actually...by imitating what that would sound like. it is a cool language....simple enough to learn, and fun enough to practice regularly.
athelwulf and i will periodically speak on yahoo, i will speak dutch at him, and he speaks german. we understand eachother perfectly. that is how similar it is.

indeed.i have to read the subtitles on dutch programming, due to the extremely flat way they speak there.
i speak a mixture of "Antwerpen/Gentse" flemish.

most americans that live here speak english exclusively.
i consider that to be rude to the culture, so i speak with the back of my throat for now.
funny enough, my accent comes through sometimes, and clerks in stores will automatically answer me in english..my lady and i speak english pretty much exclusively to eachother, so sometimes we will be in a public place, and clerks will just automatically assume we cant speak dutch.
belgians are a funny little people.
